Home and Community Resources Paula Muggli, P.H.N., R.N.C.
During this workshop, you will learn about program options, services and transitions for individuals impacted by a disability. Discussion of available services for any age, as well as planning for adolescence and adulthood, along with open discussion.
Paula Muggli is Director of Eldercare Services for Arise Home Health Care, responsible for outreach and care planning for seniors. She has over 20 years experience in skilled nursing, case management and assessment. Prior to joining Arise, Paula was with Stearns County Human Services for 15 years working with clients of all ages providing skilled nursing visits, pca assessments, and waiver case management services.

This workshop provides an overview of the key elements in financial and estate planning related to families with members who have special needs. You and your guest(s) will learn more about what can be done to protect your loved one, now and after you are gone. Participants will be given information on financial planning and estate issues that face families, including supplemental and special needs trust plans. In addition, advocacy will be discussed, especially the Letter of Intent and other steps that a family can take to provide support for their loved one.
Roger Grumdahl is a financial consultant and financial planner with Thrivent Financial since 1992. Roger will offer advice on building advocacy, planning for financial security, and legal documents. Roger has the education and experience to educate others on financial planning to those having a dependent with a disability. Kevin C. Lanigan is an attorney at the law firm of Carlson Estate Planning since 1997. Kevin has practiced law for over twenty-five years and concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning and business law. Kevin is a member of the Probate & Trust Law and Elder Law sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Kevin has extensive experience representing clients in all areas of estate planning, including: estate tax planning, Preparation of both will and trust based plans, Probate matters and trust administration, Elder law matters and Special Needs Planning, Business succession planning.

Communication & Men Howard McElroy, BS, MS
During this workshop, fathers and male caregivers will learn simple techniques to deepen appreciation of their strengths, increase their ability to support each other, and their families.
Howard has a Bachelors Degree in Human Services and Masters Degree in Applied Psychology. Howard has been involved in working with men seeking personal and spiritual growth, including relationship issues for 20 years; working with former prisoners, incarcerated youth and community building. Howard is a consultant to non-profit organizations, developing and conducting training across the U.S. and abroad in 8 countries.
Autism Kathy Kjolhaug, Educator
During this workshop, you will learn about the various aspect in Autism, living with and supporting an individual with autism, as well as learning to take time for yourself and re-energize.
Kathy is an Early Childhood Educator at the Benton-Stearns Education District. Kathy educates parents, teachers and caregivers on the various aspects of Autism, and holds monthly workshops to continue educating those impacted by a disability.
Challenging Behaviors Jon Sargeant, MS
During this workshop, you will learn about challenging behaviors, preventing and guiding behaviors and skills to promote healthy, positive behaviors.
Jon has worked in the Human Services area for 15 years. He is the current Director of Development for Opportunity Manor. Jon has been a Crisis Service Director for 6 years, and QMRP for 4 years. Jon has master’s degrees in Community Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis.
